It is not always essential but as these are dramatic situations, it is better. However, it is not the same if the person says "I attempted suicide several years ago" or if they say "I just attempted suicide".
In all cases, it must be assessed whether the risk is high or whether it is a weakness linked to the past. If the risk is high, availability is essential.
