Christine has been Bernard's assistant, Chief Financial Officer, for 10 years.
Bernard, who has noticed errors, repeated absences, less involvement from his collaborator for some time, has to check his work more and more and comes up against disappointments. In fact, he does not yet know that Christine is hosting his mother. Jeannette, suffering from Alzheimer's disease...
In doing so, Christine has organized herself to deal with this new situation: she has now warned her employer and is doing everything to remain efficient professionally speaking.
Despite this, she dwells, ruminates a lot, and measures the harshness of her situation, which she finds unfair.
She obviously dreads the end of the day when she will find her mother at home. Afraid of no longer being able to cope, she makes mistakes and begins to be afraid of losing her job, which for her, in addition to economic issues, would be all the more dramatic since she would find herself all day face to face with his mother.
She therefore redoubles her efforts, apologizes to Bernard, loses her footing, without really opening up about her difficulties to her hierarchical superior.
She goes on forums, has the support of her sisters, which relieves her but not very durably.
Bernard then contacts the HRD to ask for his replacement.
The gear:
The people involved professionally are Christine, Bernard, Pascale the HRD, Patrick the occupational physician. And, on the private side, Jeannette, Christine's mother.
Christine tries to play time with the occupational doctor so that he recognizes her temporary incapacities.
Bernard complains about Christine's overall behavior at work.
The HR Department will recommend the intervention of Cabinet LACT with which it has a contract in the context of the prevention of psychosocial risks but which it has not used to deal with the problems of the suffering of family carers.
The relationship loop:
Christine tries to reassure Bernard and the more she tries to reassure him, the more he is worried.
Privately, Jeanette is impatient and angry with her daughter.
Attempts to solve:
Everyone is able to use their resources but in some cases it doesn't work.
This sometimes amounts to using a fire with gasoline. So we're working on that, among other things. In this case, Christine tries to avoid negative reactions.
She minimizes, she does not share her difficulties, she tries to reassure. Bernard is less and less reassured.
Vis-à-vis her mother, Christine takes it upon herself; she will curb her anger and redouble her self-sacrifice .
She is in a trap.
She will continue to want to be exemplary. Be strong in the face of adversity in both dimensions of your life. And above all, keep your job. And she is disappointed with her weaknesses, will exhaust herself to the point of supreme discouragement.
The intervention of the Cabinet:
We worked with Christine on two axes:
- managing ambivalent emotions with lasting effects
- get him to stop avoiding Bernard's negative reactions by confronting him and anticipating
After 5 sessions, she achieved emotional calm.
She came out of her feeling of guilt and her permanent rumination.
She no longer sees her mother as an unfair and insulting person but as a sick person who suffers.
Bernard has become more concerned about the state of physical and moral health of his collaborator and regularly asks for news.
Christine has regained her initial concentration and is working normally again
