The first meeting via Skype of the members of the Scientific Committee was devoted to the following subjects:
- How to optimize the use of the database
- How to code symptoms/syndromes and categorize them
- How to List and Code Solution Attempts
- How to comprehensively list prescriptions
I -Optimization of the database
The database is designed to be both a practical tool for therapists applying the Problem-Solving and Palo Alto method, and an academic research tool. Among other things, it aims to measure the efficiency of our approach
Remember that the therapist can enter a large amount of information concerning his patients, regardless of their country of residence, whether they are private individuals coming to consult on their own initiative or company employees with or without a prescriber.
Some of this information is specific to the therapist :
- his meetings,
- his personal notes, for example taken during the sessions,
- scanned notes,
- the description of the context and the initial situation,
- the evolution of the patient's condition from his point of view and from the point of view of this one;
- others, such as symptoms,
- attempts at solution,
- the prescriptions,
>> intended to produce statistics and therefore to advance in the field of research, are standardized and must find an "international, even universal" codification, understandable by all.
II - Symptoms / syndromes
A first discussion opened on the methods of coding symptoms/syndromes affecting patients and their possible grouping into three categories: problems relating to oneself, problems relating to others, more global problems of relations with an organization or with the world in general.
These 3 categories were deemed too broad; finer work has already been initiated. The symptoms / syndromes will have keywords from, for example, the DSM or the research work of Professor Nardone will be kept as is, other keywords will be created.
The question of coding the symptoms identified during group therapy sessions (with the family, for example) was naturally raised. It will be revisited at a future meeting.
III - Attempts at solution and logic
With regard to the attempts at a solution, the debate has begun on the logics which underlie them. Remember that there are 3 of them: avoidance (contradiction), control (paradox), belief. For me says Wendel Ray "logic is part of the interaction".
IV - Prescriptions
The prescriptions will be listed by as many therapists as possible to arrive at the most exhaustive list possible.
